What is the best diet for hypertension?

I had a baby last year. I suffer from hypertension and have gained an extra 35 (through the pregnancy) that I now can't get off. I have been trying different diets that don't work or that are higher in sodium than what I need. I am getting frustrated with it. Please tell me some ideas (or foods) that I can try to lose the extra weight. I would appreciate any advice, web links that might help, or things that have worked for you personally. Thanks in advance.

First - congratulations on your baby! :)

Here's what has helped my family and me: The South Beach Diet - since you may not have time to read it, I'll give you the basics - lean protein like chicken/fish with a bit of olive oil….nuts/seeds…..as many veggies as you want, and some fruit and oatmeal. I buy bags of frozen chicken tenders (boneless, skinless) at Costco (or at any grocery store) and load up about 10 of them in the crock pot in the morning - if you eat natural unprocessed foods that don't have a lot of sodium, and you don't add salt, then your body can process them better and won't hold onto extra weight, like it would with processed food.

Also, foods with lots of potassium like bananas and potatoes, as well as Vit. C and E supplements, will help you lose excess water weight, lowering your blood pressure. I hope I helped, good luck! :)

  1. Fwp K Said,

Actually, you don't have to diet per se if you want to lose weight, the only method that definitely delivered for me was wu-yi tea, it can be viewed in the resource box underneath, they have a few free trials in stock, it has been reported in Reader's Digest and CNN. I lost thrity pounds, it definitely does work!
