I’m 38 1/2 weeks pregnant. I’ve been having this really sharp pain in my stomach for two days now. 95% of the time it only happens on the right side. Last night I went to the hospital because the pain started acting like a contraction and was coming and going every 3 to 4 minutes and lasting for about 80 seconds every time. When I got to the hospital they checked to see if I was any more dialated than my previous check and I wasn’t. They monitored me for an hour (the pains didn’t show up as contractions on the monitor) and checked my cervix again. There was absolutely no change. So I was sent home with instructions on when to return (if my water breaks, if true contractions start and are consistant, if I have signs of pregnancy-induced hypertension-aka PIH, etc.)
I guess my real question is if I should return to the hospital to have the pain checked out. It’s not going away and it hurts REALLY bad (kinda feels like someone is either stabbing a knife in me or pinching me really hard.)
If it gets too unbearable go back to the hospital. Get a second opinion if you have to

I’m about 24 weeks with my first child and once in awhile I feel like sharp pains on my left side and also sometime they feel like something is stabbing me. But this is all normal. I asked my doctor about it and they all told me it’s normal.
