child and I had him prematurly because the pre-eclampsia was very severe. I'm 35 weeks right now and I'm haveing sharp pains in my lower stomache that I didn't have with my first son. They seem to be there everytime I get up from bed or from sitting down, I've been put on bedrest so I know that I haven't over done it. Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
I agree with Jill. Since you have been put on bedrest, you have not been using your muscles and ligaments and they are not accustomed to you moving much. When you do sit up or stand up, you're likely to feel pain from many ligaments, but the round ligament is most certainly the one you're having pain from. You're ligaments are all loosening in preparation for childbirth so I would say you have nothing to worry about. Still, to be safe, you should phone your dr. in the morning and tell him/her what's going on. But I really wouldn't stress over it. You're already on bedrest because of high blood pressure, don't stress anymore than you have to!

It sounds like ligament pains or the abdominal muscle separating. If you are worried, give your doctor another ring and really badger them to see you.

Actually it sounds a lot like round ligament pain. These are often sharp pains that you get in the lower stomach or lower sides when you shift position or move from standing to sitting. It does not sound like any kind of pre-eclampsia related pain, which is usually higher in the abdomen and is often described as severe heartburn.
But if you're worried you should always err on the side of caution and call your doctor.
