I am nearly 40 weeks. Did you have any side effects from preeclampsia. They took my blood today, so I should find out tomorrow if they are going to induce. This is my fourth. I never had it with any of the others. Thanks for your insights.
I had it with my first
side effects can include
high blood pressure
lots of swelling in face, hands, feet
head aches
blurred vision
protein in urine
I only had high bp, swelling and small amount of protein in urine
preeclampsia can cause seizures in mom, kidney problems and other problems
only cure is for the baby to be born…. after delivery the mom’s body usually returns to normal
I had to be induced.. they gave me pitocin and a magnesium sulfate drip… the magnesium sulfate drip is to prevent seizures due to high blood pressure… it makes you feel sluggish, tired, groggy and miserable… [sorry can't be more upbeat about it]
if on magnesium you also have to lay down in bed making labor harder because gravity isn’t there to assist… [if you can try to sit up at least to help progress labor]
i had to stay on the magnesium 24 hrs after birth and was not allowed to be alone in room with baby until magnesium drip was stopped because the magnesium is muscle relaxer
but ask you dr how he is going to induce? how bad your preeclampsia is?
good luck hope your experience is better than mine

I am currently 30 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child.
I developed high blood pressure related to pregnancy with this one.
I was put on blood pressure pills, and have had protein in urine more than once.
I have developed headaches and am sure my doc will be upping my med dose.
As far as I, and the docs can tell, the baby is healthy.
Additionally, I developed high blood pressure, protein in urine and extreme swelling at 37 weeks of my last pregnancy.
I was monitered closely, every 2-3 days, then after consistent high blood pressure, was induced.
There were no side effects to my son, but I did have extreme high blood pressure…170 over 110 or so….during labour, and was given meds frequently.
Also, had to continue the blood pressure meds for about a month after delivery until it returned to normal.
Best of luck to you, remember that it is better to induce than take a chance something could go wrong.

I had blurred vison, seeing black spots when I would blink. Terrible headaches, dizzy, protein in my urine. Just plain feeling strange like something was off. Very high blood pressure. Sudden weight gain, swollen feet and ankles. Good Luck.

Other signs of Preeclampsia are protein in your urine, vision problems, dull headaches, water retention (or gaining much more than you should in a week). I have all of those signs except for the vision changes. I actually gained 5 lbs of water weight in 4 days. I would ask your doctor. They will probably put you on bedrest; they have with me and I am 35 weeks. If you do have Preeclampsia and you don’t listen however, you could develope Eclampsia, which is where you can have severe seizures. Find out from your doctor what is going on and good luck
They may induce because you are almost due anyway.
