I am 14weeks pregnant. I have been getting really bad headaches, and i do get black spots sometimes but not too often. A couple of people have told me it may be pre-eclampsia. I plan to go to my doctors tommorrow but can anyone please tell me anything more about it and what risks it has to me and my baby if this is it.
Thank you.
I forgot to put that i have a high risk of eclampsia as i have been pregnant with twins before.
It is basicly stress on you and your baby, the best thing for you to do is rest and take it easy until you can see you doctor. Sounds like it might be preclampsia. Good luck to ya!!
Oh ps…try to be calm while at the doctors, getting worried about it will make your blood pressure go up and maybe give them a false reading.

headaches are very normal in pregnancy, i don't see how just headaches would give someone the idea you've got pre-eclampsia.
anyways, pre-eclampsia is very rare and the people who do get it dont usually get it till they're in the late stages of their pregnancy (30+weeks). the midwife or doctor tests your urine for protein and checks your blood pressure and that's how they test it.
pre-eclampsia is dangerous, women are usually put on bed rest and closely monitored and sometimes even induced as it can be life threatning.
look it up on the internet for symptoms etc.

There are other factors that your doctor will have to watch out for. Such as protein in your urine and high blood pressure. These two symptoms are the ones that really give away that you have pre-eclampsia. For many women it doesn't start till the late stage of pregnancy but for some it can start early espically if there is a family history of it. Tell your doctor about your symptoms. If you do have it since you are this early chances are you will be put on bed rest. It can cause pre-term labor.
I developed but late in my pregnancy around 37 weeks. One of my friends also developed it so it is common. I ended up being induced instead of waiting for natural labor to start. My blood pressure right before I was induced was 157/112 at its highest. My doctor decided for the health of me and my baby to induce right away.

given that you are only 14wks along its quite unlikely that you have Pre-Eclampsia, as is *usually* only diagnosed past 20 wks. Definitely discuss your symptoms with your health care provider and be aware of the signs of PE.
