I'll be 26 weeks on Monday and I've just noticed that my feet are slightly swollen. It's not super noticeable. In fact, I don't think anyone else would notice, but I asked my mom and boyfriend if they thought they looked swollen and they said yes. But it's only a little.
What are other symptoms of preeclampsia? Would my doctor know by now if I have it based on my blood pressure or does that have nothing to do with preeclampsia? Thanks.
Pre-eclampsia is a fancy name for gestational high blood pressure to put it simply.
Symptoms include swollen feet, hands and face. Your blood pressure will be high and they will notice that at your monthly check-up. And when they have you pee in a cup, they are checking for protein. Protein in urine is a tell-tale sign of pre-ecplampsia.
Sometimes it's nothing to worry about. Sometimes it can cause tons of complications during labor.
But, swelling during pregnancy is usually very normal. If it's only a little bit, I wouldn't worry. Water retention can also be caused from too much sodium intake. Also, drinking more water will help with swelling too. And if you're just sitting back and relaxing, prop your feet up. That will also help. Good luck.

Swollen feet is pretty normal. If you have a headache or sudden weight gain get your BP checked and call the doctor, otherwise don't worry. You could try cutting back on the salt and drinking more water.

You would be more swollen and it would likely not just be in your feet, but also your hands and face. also high blood pressure along with the swelling are warning signs of pre-eclampsia.

swelling isnt always a sign, just make sure that you pay attention to it, and let your doctor know if it starts getting considerably worse.
its mostly high blood pressure, swelling, and protein in your urine

Main symptoms doctors look for when diagnosing preeclampsia is high blood pressure (bottom figure over 80/85) and protein in your urine.
Other symptoms include swelling to the face and hands, spotted vision and needing to urinate more frequently.
It would usually need to be a lot of swelling (so if you applied pressure on the swelled area a dent would be left)
It's probably just water retention which is common in pregnancy, if you have any concerns contact your doctor.

Swollen feet are common in pregnancy, slight to moderate swelling is a normal side effect.
Your doctor would know if you had pre eclampsia because your blood pressure would be very high and you would show protien in your urine,in more severe cases you could also have severe headaches, blurred vision and dizziness but they would know, that is part of what the check ups are for.

No, it doesn't. Signs of pre-eclampsia would be swelling all over, face, hands, legs, feet and it would be badly swollen, you'd have a high blood pressure usually if it's over 140/90 then they worry, pre-eclampsia usually makes the diastolic go over 100 though, so you'd be looking for 140/100 and upwards, you'd have protein in your urine, really bad headaches - more like migranes, your vision would go, feeling dizzy and sick all the time, pain under your right rib - severe pain and you'd notice a big weight gain.
Yes your doctor would know, you get your urine tested for protein at each visit, they'd know by your blood pressure too.
You've got odema, which just means swelling, it's normal to get it in pregnancy it can be caused by water retention, being on your feet too long, side effect of carrying the extra weight and so on.
I wouldn't worry too much about it.
