I am 29, I have a very good career that is on the rise. I would like to be a young mum and my husband and I planned on starting a family next year. However, I have been offered a promotion and relocation, as a consequence I will not be able to start a family for 2 years, (this is not an option) therefore I will have my first at 32/33. I have read that 28/29 is an ideal age to have a baby and stress contributes to infertility ( I work in a stressful industry).
I do not want to risk having difficulties in getting pregnant, but I have worked very hard to be in the position I am in today, I am good at what I do and I take pride in my job and I do not want to have any regrets. I work in a male dominated industry in which it would be very hard to climb up the ladder if I have a baby, it is tough enough when you reach a certain age and get married.
Are there any other career women that have been or are currently in a similar situation, and can offer me some guidance?
I had the same situation..I'm 27 I was always excellent at my work and made a lot of $$$ ….and this year i had my baby who is now 5 months old now and while i was on maternity leave i lost my job,the company closed down and I lost all that I had achieved and all the benefits that I had. I am having an extremely difficult time coping with motherhood and trying to find an employment that will be flexible,if I tell the potential employers that I have a baby, they talk me out of the job …all that equal oppurtunity is bull crap. It's a very tough choice.
I don't think you should have difficulties getting pregnant..people have children at 40.As far as career is concerned, nothing is stable when it comes to a job cuz at the end of the day it is still a job. Your career will always come in between starting a family so whether you do it now or 5 yrs later you will still have the same concern. You really need to decide with your spouse and if you really want a baby.If you have $$$ saved you should be fine incase you do need to take a year off.Goodluck.

Discuss this w/ your husband , what is his opinion? From 32-35 it is still a good age to be a mom.
