I was wondering how can you tell the difference between those 2 types of cramps. How painful are the miscariage cramps? I am just a bit worried. Thanks for your help!
Miscarriage cramps feel like really bad period cramps, and 9 times out of 10 there is bleeding (heavy bleeding like period). They are constant and usually don’t let up at all. This is what happened to me when I had a miscarriage. Pregnancy cramps are the result of a growing uterus and is totally normal. They are very dull and only last a few minutes. It almost feels as if someone is blowing air up in there very gently. Also, you can get round ligament pain. The ligaments of your uterus also have to stretch to accommodate your uterus growing. These pains are felt near the groin and hip and can be sharp and intense, but only last a few seconds. You usually feel these when you move from siting or standing positions, or when you roll out of bed. You usually don’t get these until later on at around 20 weeks, but everyone is different. If your having a miscarriage you will know. It;s normal to worry while your pregnant, but if you have any concerns about cramping then let your doctor know. They will ease your mind. Also check out this book (I swear by it) "What to Expect when your Expecting". It has all sorts of good info on cramps. Best of luck, just know everything will be fine.

For the most part, you will definitely know the difference between the two. Miscarriage is extremely sharp and painful, while normal pregnancy cramps are like dull, period cramps. If you have any cramping with blood, it’s most likely miscarriage.

Generally, cramps with miscarriage will intensify and you will begin to bleed. Cramps in early pregnancy can at times become pretty intense — my first pregnancy I had a lot of cramps, none too bad. This pregnancy I had really nasty cramps around 7 weeks. So much so I called my OB and they had me come in. They did an ultrasound and everything was fine. I’m now 22 weeks pregnant with my second boy.
Cramping is pretty normal and can be distressing especially if it is your first pregnancy. I knew when I experienced them with my first pregnancy I didn’t think it could be normal. But my OB assured me it was very normal - a lot of uterine growth has to take place in a very short period of time.
If you ever are worried don’t hesitate to call your OB. I did/have a bunch.

I had a lot of cramping early in my pregnancy and I always got scared.
Like the other answerer said there will most likely be blood with the cramping if there is a miscarriage going on. The blood will be bright red and look fresh. Older blood will be brown and can be from the last time you had intercourse. If you have slight pink tinge, it can be form intercourse, or a vaginal exam but is some what less worrisome. It also depends on how early you are in your pregnancy. If you are early in your pregnancy, you might not even notice until you start bleeding, later in the pregnancy women go into labor and deliver a stillborn. Any time after 20 weeks do not feel embarrassed to go to the hospital. Or any time before 20 weeks for that matter. it is your baby, and your body, you shouldn’t feel silly make sure everything is ok. Good luck! I hope everything is alright.
