The body, if you monitor carefully, helps you know the moment you are pregnant. The most common early sign of pregnancy can be deciphered even before you realize that you have missed the period or doing a pregnancy test on the home pregnancy kit. Pregnancy is one of the happiest moments for any woman, a moment when she feels blessed and part of creation. She wants to share this joy with her family and friends. What better way can be there for sharing this experience? A pregnancy journal or a personal diary is the best way to record your feelings, experiences to share this experience with your near and dear ones.
Your personal pregnancy journal
Your journal or a diary is the place where you express and record all the important things experienced by you in the course of your pregnancy. It keeps track of all your feelings, moments of joys or pain. It is your best friend, with whom you share your thoughts, hopes and dreams of the future. It keeps a record of your day-to-day happenings. You learn more a
bout the world that surrounds you; every mundane experience too becomes a moment of learning.
If you maintain the pregnancy journal consistently, you will learn to get more focused on your condition and getting comfortable with long wait of nine months before you get to see and touch your baby. It helps you in bonding and developing strong maternal bonds with the baby, who is still a mass of cells, gradually taking shape of your dreams. The cheerfulness and brightness that a pregnancy journal manages to generate becomes contagious with everything and everyone. Being happy and enjoying the moments of pregnancy is the best medicine for all the annoying changes happening within your body.
Pregnancy journal brings about a subtle change in your perspective. You view the world in a positive manner and respond accordingly. It helps you overcome the irritability, short temperedness due to fluctuating hormones. It helps you in overcoming low esteem due to heavy body weight and frumpy figure. Pregnancy journal increases the knowledge of self and helps in creativity. It simplifies the days, making you patient and less anxious for the ‘big day’.
Fill up your pregnancy journal with the recordings of the most common earliest pregnancy symptoms such as:
Change of basal body temperature through ovulation and through the expected date of next periods.
Light spotting, bleeding and yellowish vaginal discharge. It takes place 4-5 days after conception, when the embryo implants itself to the uterine wall.
Frequent urination
Fatigue during the early stages of pregnancy as hormone levels change.
A missed period dates and discovery of the first pregnancy.
All these recordings become archive material and are a handy help for recognizing signs of pregnancy during subsequent pregnancies. It is a valuable tool of incredible information and feelings experienced in your first pregnancy.

I’ll only put it in for a second, “we’ve heard that before”

If you haven`t seen a doctor yet and still not sure if you have conceived, then there are other ways to tell if you are pregnant.

If your concerns are not in relation to pregnancy and to a sexually transmitted disease then the earlier it is treated the better. Untreated sex diseases can have serious consequences.
British statistics on STIs are based on analysis at genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics.
UK research showed 10.8% of males and 12.6 % of females aged 16-44 were treated for sexually transmitted infections.
Over twelve months ago a report stated, 397,990 new sexually transmitted infection diagnoses at GUM clinics in Great Britain showed an increase of 63% in 1998.
There was a 6% rise between 2006 and 2007. A little number maybe, but a number nonetheless with huge affect.
The Genital Chlamydia infection scarily rose the highest in numbers. Between 1998 and 2007 genital Chlamydia increased by 150%, genital herpes by 51%and syphilis by 1,828%.
Gonorrhea
The male can differ from the female if they have this disease (no symptoms.) Nevertheless in them that do have symptoms they normally appear 2 to 5 days after infection. Discomfort includes a burning sensation when peeing, or a white, yellow, or green discharge from the penis. Gonorrhea can cause painful or swollen testicles. For women the symptoms can be easily confused with a bladder or vaginal infection. Typical signs include pain and burning feel when weeing, increased vaginal discharge, or vaginal bleeding between periods. Women with gonorrhea are at risk of developing serious complications from the infection. Symptoms of rectal infection in both genders may include discharge, anal itching, soreness, bleeding, or painful bowel movements.
Genital warts
If you are infected then you can expect to see pinkish/white small lumps or clustered cauliflower-shaped lumps around the genitals. Remember not to panic till your condition has been determined by a GP as you may well be worrying over little or nothing. Warts are known to form on or around the penis, the scrotum, the thighs or the anus. Female genital warts usually grow around the vulva or inside the vagina and on the cervix. If a woman has warts on her cervix, this can cause slight bleeding or, less commonly show, an unusual colored vaginal discharge. Although not a regular known condition for pain, it however brings itch.
Genital herpes
Symptoms usually appear 2 to 7 days after exposure and last 2 to 4 weeks. Both sexes can have one or more symptoms, including:
Itchiness or tingling around the genitals including the anus.
Small fluid-filled blisters and when burst leaves painful sores.
Pain when urine stream oozes over open sores.
Headaches.
Lower backache.
Swollen glands or fever.
You have to be careful if you find you carry both baby and an infection. STDs can cause cervical and other cancers, chronic hepatitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and other complications. Genital infections can be passed from a pregnant woman to the baby before, during, or after the baby’s birth. Some STDs (like syphilis) cross the placenta and infect the baby while it is in the uterus (womb). Other STDs (like gonorrhea, chlamydia, hepatitis B, and genital herpes) can be transmitted from the mother to the baby during delivery as the baby passes through the birth canal. These are frightening issues, however not as scary as bringing up a baby alone.

Early signs of pregnancy can be many and it is very important for you, as a woman, to know as to what are these early symptoms. There are some early signs of pregnancy which you may experience even before you missed your period. It is not necessary that you may experience all these early sings of pregnancy but it is likely that once in a while you will encounter one of these symptoms. Lack of energy, tender breasts, nauseatic feeling, dizziness and lightheadedness and so on are all early signs of pregnancy. It is becomes very important for us to discuss everything in detail and clear out certain misconceptions that people have in their minds about pregnancy.
Hallmark Symptoms of Pregnancy:
Feeling of exhaustion and lack of energy are early signs of pregnancy. Often this tiredness is accredited to other things that are part of everyday life. The hormonal changes that takes in the body due to pregnancy and also the amount of work that you are doing is the cause of fatigue. And, the hormonal changes are usually attributed to early sings of pregnancy. The best way to overcome this fatigue is to lie down on bed as much as you can. A short nap is not ruled out to avoid this fatigue. Another very rare but early sign of pregnancy is implantation bleeding. Just before your menstrual cycle begins there is a brown or slightly pink vaginal discharge. This usually happens when the fertilized egg is embedded in the uterus. This is very rare phenomenon and only happens in 30% of all pregnancy cases.
Nauseatic feeling is perhaps one of the hallmarks of pregnancy symptoms. Again we often mistake it to be a consequence of food poisoning. But nausea is something that grows gradually. Nauseatic feeling will be slight and is one of the early sign of pregnancy but will increase with time. Nausea does not subside easily and this is perhaps one of the first signals that a woman is pregnant. A missing period is perhaps a sure though not always early sign of pregnancy. Even if consistent feeling of nausea does not send a hint to a woman that she is regnant, a missing period will surely do.
Since a womanâs body is continuously working hard to support the growth of embryo, it continuously needs energy to sustain itself. And that energy is provided by a healthy diet. Increase in the diet level is also an early sign of pregnancy. However, decrease in the appetite level can also be an early sign of pregnancy. It can go either way and vary on everyday basis. A clear understanding of pregnancy health issues is brought out in the pregnancy journals and also various pregnancy related websites.
There are too many early signs of pregnancy and unfortunately we cannot provide a perfect list that can help you determine whether you are pregnant or not. It is not necessary that you experience all the early signs of pregnancy but you tend to experience a few of them. Some women have even reported of experiencing no symptoms at all. Just remember your body is the best indicator to tell you whether you are pregnant or not, even before you undergo a pregnancy test.

Couples trying for a baby are overjoyed on discovering the pregnancy. It is one of the happiest times for a woman to feel a part of creation; one cannot thank heaven enough for the blessings. Creating life is a miraculous feeling; one must develop a happy and positive outlook towards life and enjoy every moment of the pregnancy. It not only brings with it an expanding waistline but also many other body changes. To enjoy the fruits of motherhood one must take these changes in the stride and maintain good health and a happy attitude for the well being of both the mother and the baby.
Basics of a healthy pregnancy
Some of the early signs of a pregnancy are nausea and vomiting, indigestion, heartburn, over sensitivity in taste and smell towards common foodstuffs, backaches, headaches and general pains, fatigue and tiredness, swelling and soreness of breasts, change in body and complexion, and sleeping trouble.
As the body undergoes hormonal changes to accommodate a new life, a woman may feel initially feel uncomfortable. Try to overcome them by making some changes in your life pattern. Do not resort to over the counter medicines without consulting your doctor. Try a few simple methods to help you feel better:
Eat small meals at frequent intervals
Lie down and rest when tired
Apply heat to ease aches and pains
Avoid alcohol and smoking
Avoid strenuous exercises
Take small walks in fresh air
Wear loose and comfortable clothes
Call your doctor if the problems persist for professional help.
The emotional and mental changes are a part of pregnancy, along with the massive changes in the body. Do not get overly alarmed, but maintain good pregnancy health with proper nutrition, exercise and positive outlook towards life. Listen to the body signs and remain happy. Do not let irritability and mood swings disturb the life. The bodys metabolism and the growing baby in the uterus can interfere with leading a normal life and disturb sleep patterns. Find ways to relax and get over these problems for a happier outlook during the pregnancy.
Do not hesitate to call your gynecologist, doctor or a midwife if there are any signs of problems or something is bothering you. Any abnormal vaginal bleeding, fluid leakage, fever, swelling of body, persistent pains and cramps or changes in babys movements call for immediate attention by a doctor. Remedial measures in time leads to a happy and enjoyable pregnancy.
Keeping a pregnancy journal is another great idea, to keep a record of the happenings and feelings experienced by you during your pregnancy. It is a way of focusing on a your successes or changes to pave the way towards positive outlook and change in perspective during pregnancy. It also serves as means of sharing your personal experiences during pregnancy with other people, friends or family. Pregnancy journal can be reference record for your subsequent pregnancies too.
