Hey Lucy…I’m Jewish and honestly, you’re best option is to have the rabbi do it. Rabbi’s who do circumcisions are called moyels and they are actually better trained than doctors. I have been to many bris’ (the ceremony that happens when a baby boy is 8 days old where he gets circumcised). I know at least three non-jewish families who had to bring their sons back to the doctor because their circumcision was done incorrectly and not enough skin was taken-never heard this from a jewish family.

For anyone who plans to circumcise you can do that w/ your pedi following the birth up to X amount of days, varies Dr to Dr. Through our midwives there is a Rabbi who will do-non-jewish son’s at his home, and you never have to leave your son. You can nurse him to help calm him down and so forth. That is an option we’re all given.
