On the depo shot for 11 months and still bleeding but Im having pregnancy signs.?

I have had the shot for 11 months now and still bleeding. It's only here and there now but I'm having pregnancy symptoms and the test is negative. I have 3 kids already so I can tell if I'm pregnant. Should I go in for a blood test or what. Im the only person I know that has bled for this long.

you are more than likely not pregnant. Everyones body reacts differently to different birth control methods. The depo shot is a pretty fail proof method of birth control as long as you get your shot on time every 3 months.

  2. Tammy Said,

When I got the depo shot, I was bleeding through the whole six months I was on it. It's a huge dose of hormones all at once, and it's really not that good for you. I also felt like I was pregnant but I wasn't. It's just the hormones messing with your body. I had to switch back to the pill.

i was on the depo shot and i hated it. i bled the entire time. (my husband always made the joke: i guess that's how the BC works…it doesn't ever let you have sex cuz you're on your period the whole time!) If the pregnancy test says no, then you most likely aren't. A lot of the side effects of the depo shot are also symptoms of pregnancy, so it can get confusing.
The common "less serious side effects" from Depoprovera include:

    * Menstrual irregularities side effect. This includes bleeding and spotting
    * Amenorrhea or not having any periods in another side effect of Depo Provera.
    * You may experience a spotty darkening of the skin, usually around or on the face; this side effect/symptom may not go away completely.
    * Weight gain due to increased appetite is a common side effect of Depo Provera
    * Pregnancy-like symptoms include sore breasts, nausea, fatigue, and abdominal discomfort; they may occur after the first four injections but usually go away.
    * After a year of Depo Provera injections, 57 percent of women are not menstruating.
    * After two years of taking Depo Provera, 68 percent of women are not menstruating.
    * If you stop getting Depo Provera injections, your period usually returns within 3 to 10 months.
    * After the last injection of Depo Provera, a significant side effect is that it takes an average of 9 to 12 months to become pregnant.
    * Other symptoms and side effects may include headache, dizziness, nervousness, some loss of scalp hair, some increase in body hair, decreased sex drive, leg cramps, and bloating. They may or may not be caused by Depo Provera . Report any of these side effects to your medical provider immediately.

Depo Provera stops the ovaries from releasing eggs. Depo Provera causes the cervical mucus to thicken and changes the uterine lining, making it harder for sperm to enter or survive in the uterus. These changes prevent fertilization.
