New Pregnancy - Identifying Symptoms

Though most married women will like to experience and enjoy a new pregnancy, very few know about different symptoms which can be taken to be indicative of conception. The most common symptom to identify possible pregnancy is a missed period. But if you do not keep track of your menstrual cycle or if it varies widely from one month to the next, you may not be sure when to expect your period. In such situations other symptoms may become your indicators to pregnancy. The final evidence of your pregnancy will be provided only by a home pregnancy test. However you should note that home pregnancy tests are not sensitive enough to detect most pregnancies until about a week after a missed period. So if you decide to take a test earlier than that and get a negative result, try again in a few days.

Before you take a home pregnancy test to confirm your new pregnancy you may also look for other common symptoms usually experienced by pregnant women. Hormonal changes in early pregnancy cause bloating in the body and your clothes may feel tighter than usual at the waistline. Similarly you may experience sensitive, sore breasts caused by increasing levels of hormones. The soreness may feel like an exaggerated version of how your breasts feel before your period. A related symptom is that if you are pregnant your basal body temperature increases and stays elevated for 18 days in a row.

Other symptoms of new pregnancy are fatigue, nausea or vomiting and frequent urination. If you are pregnant you feel tired and exhausted all of a sudden. The reasons for early pregnancy fatigue are not known for sure. However, some experts attribute it to rapidly increasing levels of the hormone progesterone. Some women experience excessive urination if they are pregnant. During pregnancy the amount of blood and other fluids in your body increases, which leads to extra fluid being processed by your kidneys and ending up in your bladder. Many women feel vomiting sensation early in pregnancy. It has also been observed that some women have a small amount of vaginal bleeding around 11 or 12 days after conception. If you’re newly pregnant, it’s not uncommon to feel repelled by the smell of a sandwich or cup of coffee which you used to enjoy earlier.

All in all there are long lists of symptoms which may tell that you are pregnant. If so then take a home pregnancy test and if confirmed then prepare for a pleasant new pregnancy experience.

  1. . Said,

When did your pregnancy symptoms go away?
Mine are getting much better - except for the tender breasts. My fatigue isn’t as bad and nor is my morning sickness. I am 9 weeks. Yesterday we identified a baby measuring just that with a really strong heart rate. The doctor told me at this point my chance of miscarriage is about 1%. My hormones are also right on target.

When did you lose some symptoms?

What makes them go away? - considering for example progesterone continues to increase. Does your body just get used to them?
The fatigue and sickness isn’t 100% gone - just much better.

12 weeks is usually the time frame given for symptoms to go away…. I started feeling better around 11 weeks, having energy and stuff. At 12 weeks the placenta takes over making the hormones so your body isn’t working as hard. Expect to start feeling better over the next 3 weeks.

I know I stopped feeling nauscious by the fourth month of my pregnancy. I’m not sure what stops it. Maybe it does get use to the baby taking what it needs from the mother, but I’m not sure. I was just thankful my all day sickness went away. I know I still felt tired throughout the terms, but it got much better.

Usually 12 weeks for the morning sickness. Pregnancy if full of new symptoms every day. But your 2nd trimester is usually the most enjoyable. You are usually over morning sickness and not too big to be uncomfortable and by then everyone knows you are pregnant and they make a big deal about it. Enjoy it now because when the baby gets here it’s all about him!

I got scared at 11 weeks when I started losing my symptoms (since also a sign of a miscarriage), but they came and went for a couple more weeks. At 13 weeks to the day, I woke up with no more sore breasts, and feeling like myself. I still have some bouts of being tired about once a week, and other things that are kicking in like stretching feeling around my belly button, some headaches off and on, a bloody nose and mouth here and there, and other minor stuff-but other than that fine.

Your hormones level off, that’s why they don’t continue (but I guess they pick back up in the 3rd trimester)

My nausea went away as soon as I started taking the prenatal vitamins. The fatigue never really went away. As long as I was up and moving I was pretty ok. But the moment I would sit down and relax, I was falling asleep.

Right when I jumped into my second trimester my sickness and fatigue totally disappeared. Even the things I had craved the 3 months in I had no appetitie for anymore. Your second trimester is a breeze and I believe this where you gain the most weight and become the most active because you feel so good. Well everyones different but this is how it was for me. I am 37 weeks right now and due at the end of the month. I am now feeling worn down and anxious and going pee every half hour!
