I am 8 and a half weeks pregnant with my second child but when I woke up this morning, I had bled a little in the night - it isn’t bright red ‘fresh’ blood, it is darker than that, and I have been having a small amount of yellow/brownish type discharge since and slight cramps in my tummy. Has this happened to anyone who has still gone on to have a normal and healthy pregnancy?
Can I also ask if bed rest is necesary or should I just carry on as normal?
I bled at 6 weeks with my second baby, (with cramps) I went to hospital for blood tests, and a week later a scan showed she was just fine. I lost her further into the pregnancy due to chorioamnionitis, but if I had never caught that infection, she would now be 5 months old.
I then fell pregnant again, and bled at 8 weeks. This was in the middle of the night, so I went to hospital the next day for a scan, and everything was just fine. I’m now almost 32 weeks and everything is going just great.
So it happened to me.
However, I bled at 4 weeks pregnant twice and miscarried. This was just failed implantation though.
I bled at 6 weeks and miscarried - This was bright red with grey clots, and was quite painful.
I would ring the Doctor if you haven’t already, although I am sure as it’s light and not bright red, that you are going to be just fine
xx
EDIT - I was told to rest each time I bled. It’s up to you what you do and what your Doctor tells you to do x

I started bleeding with my daughter when i was 6 weeks along. I rushed to the ER because i thought i was having a miscarriage.but when the doctor checked me out, they said it was just implantation bleeding. But i would advise you to go to the ER, just to be on the safe side. If something happened to your bbay, you would hate that you never went.
good luck to you.(:

I dont think you have much to worry about but i think you should always get any sort of bleeding/discharge checked in pregnancy if your not sure. I had an ambulance take me to hospital on friday as i had cramps in my lower tum and back and had what seemed to be quite a heavy bleed of bright red blood. I definitely thought i had miscarried. Today i had a scan and it was seen i had bleeding around the sac but my baby was fine, the heartbeat was seen and all looked ok. Im still a nervous wreck though and not sure if i’ll stop worrying now. I was told the chances of continuing a healthy pregnancy were high, so i should imagine your chances are higher than mine. Good luck and listen to your body. It will tell you if something isnt right. x

My cousin had bleeding periodically through her pregnancy, she was a waitress and on her feet all the time, her boss finally told her no more work………..She had a healthy baby girl, some women do bleed and deliver healthy and some who bleed have miscarried, you need to go to the dr regardless of what anybody says on here because we don’t know your specific situation and the sooner you know the sooner something could be done to help you if necessary… Good LUck..

I had something like this with my first pregnancy and I was sent for a scan which confirmed everything was fine and I had a healthy girl several months later.
You should most definitely get yourself checked out though as soon as possible.

I had bleeding when I was 4-5 weeks pregnant (started with a gush, scary) and pain. I went to the ER, where they first thought it was ectopic, did a u/s and realized it wasn’t. Since it was so early there was no heartbeat, so I got sent home not knowing if the baby was alive and not knowing if I would miscarry. It was the worst experience of my life…but the bleeding stopped and I’m still pregnant. I had a bit more bleeding at 24 weeks, but again everything turned out fine. I’m 30 weeks now and have an extremely active baby in my tummy. Try to stay positive, it’s hard, but you will drive yourself crazy if you don’t. I know I did. Good luck.

yip!!
i had some dark brown discharge at about 9 weeks but there was sooo much of it. i got such a fright, that had never hapened to me b4.
wen i went for an u/s, i discovered that i had had alot of blood sitting on top of my cervix and all the hormones in my body had released it.
i’ve had bleeding of all kinds with other pregnancys and have went on to have very health babies.lol i tend to freak myself out at times, but i’ve also learned to chill now. severe pain and bright red fresh blood is wot to worry about. im sure u’ll be just fine xx

I had brown discharge for about a week when I was 5 weeks pregnant and then when I turned 6 weeks I bled for about an hour bright red blood. I thought I was miscarrying so I went to hospital got checked out, saw the baby’s heartbeat and was told everything was fine. I’m now due to have my healthy baby boy tomorrow. So yes,you can bleed and still have a healthy pregnancy but I have read if it is ever accompanied with cramping, that’s not a good sign but you can’t judge it yourself, get checked out just in case. Your probably fine but who wants to take that chance. Even if you do miscarry, there’s nothing you or the doctors can do about it but if you just want peace of mind, then get checked out.

Hey hun it is so scary is’nt it and so easy to think it must be a sign of something ominous. I started bleeding last Friday - a few light brown drops and still am spotting now but only a small amount each day. I went to A&E on the Saturday as had a few pains and it turns out I had a water infection. I still get the spotting now but It tends to be after a BM (bowel movement sorry if TMI) and sometimes it is red but I had a scan last Monday and things seemed to be fine, was a heartbeat etc also had a gynaecological exam and she couldnt see any blood coming from my cervix. My mum and elder sister both had similar with their pregnancies. apparently it can be if you are constipated then the strain can cause your cervix to bleed a little amount when you go as it is so sensitive and full of blood but this doesnt harm the baby. The EPU said I could go for another scan this week to reassure me and I will do but I really do think it can just be one of those things. xx
