I missed my period on the 3rd of july, took a hcg blood test and it was 4.72. I started spotting yesterday now today heavier bleeding. Could this be a late period, pregnancy bleeding or what. I am not sure what to think.
I also had my tubes untied in april so I am trying.
You could be pregnant and the cervix could be closing. Or you could have had sex and caused a minor trauma to the cervix and now it is trying to heal itself. I think you should ask your doctor/midwife. You can just call on the phone and ask and if they think it is something serious they will ask you to come in.

It could be a late period. Any hcg number lower than five can be presumed as not pregnant.

Anything less than 5 is considered negative, but could also indicate a miscarriage or ectopic or wrong dates. It also says some pregnancies take awhile for enough HCG to show up and can still deliver healthy babies. Since you are bleeding, this might be your period. A lot of times, the pregnancy doesn’t take, and then your body wouldn’t produce enough HCG to indicate pregnancy. There isn’t any way to really tell. They say a lot of women have miscarriages as a period and they never knew they were pregnant. Good luck!
