No man’s land explores the issues of custody, gender bias in the court system and the difficulties and issues of single parenting. Central to the book is the true story of a single father. His world as he knew it ceased to exist when his pregnant wife fled to another state with his three minor children. The court system did little to help him and for a while it seemed she got away with it. He was faced with three options. He could just let her have her way with the possibility of never seeing his children again. He could let them remain in the new state and fight for visitation. With great risk to himself, he could fight for his children. He chose the latter. He secured their return and subsequently got custody of them. A few weeks after, he was also raising his newborn baby. Single fatherhood was hard on its own but, as though it was not enough, he faced continual attacks from his estranged wife, a biased justice system and an uncaring supervisor at work. He eventually came to the point of giving up the very thing he had fought so hard for. He found out that when life suddenly becomes chaotic it is hard and sometimes impossible to find the balance in order to continue moving forward. For him balance came when he learnt to give up his expectations and to look for hope in God and faith in areas previously unexplored. As he willingly gave up life as he knew it and settled down to enjoying a new life and experiences with his children and with his faith in God, only then did he begin to take control of his life even if he had to do it in No Man’s Land.

you had a disease or some other health problem that you knew could cause infertility or at best make it hard to get pregnant in a few years? (i.e Polycystic ovary syndrome, large uterine fibroids, damage from pelvic inflammatory disease or STIs, or ovarian cysts.)

What if you were still in college? Obviously you would be in a committed relationship, be able to afford a baby etc. And yes I know that all these don’t always cause infertility or difficulty getting pregnant, I’m just asking hypothetically.

I’m just curious what do other people think because I know that I have something wrong with me along those lines, I’m not sure what it is or how severe, my exam/ultrasound isn’t until Friday.

But again this is HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING. I’m just asking what would you do, not what should I do, because it might not even apply to me, I don’t know yet.

I personally would have a child if i thought It would make me infertile in the future. I have family to help me and friends, so it wouldn’t be dificult at all. My husband and i grew up together. we met when i was 9 he was 10. so our family is very close and huge, we have a lot of babysitters. but having a child with no help is a huge decision you really have to sit down and evaluate. there are other options such as adopting a child. BUT if you really want a biological child, then I would go ahead and have a baby now. thats what I would do.

Hypertension is increasing among America’s population. Researchers suggest between 25-33 percent of citizens have reason to be very concerned with checking/regulating their blood pressure. If hypertension is diagnosed, the family physician will probably suggest several lifestyle changes, to ascertain whether the problem can be solved without more invasive treatment. However, many people will require one or more high blood pressure medicines, to prevent dangerous health issues, in addition to encouraging healthier choices.

Among the plethora of medicines, the more common antihypertensive drugs used are ACE inhibitors. “These drugs prevent your blood vessels from constricting by blocking your body from making angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a chemical that constricts blood vessels”. If a sufferer of high blood pressure has already adjusted his/her lifestyle and ACE inhibitors are required, the medicine will be a lifelong addition to the daily regiment.

An alternative to ACE inhibitors may be another high blood pressure medicine called calcium channel blockers. “These open up the blood vessels making it easier for the heart to work” (Medicines for High Blood Pressure). Mothers have been known to stroke out before the baby is born, or have added complications during delivery. If anyone’s blood pressure remains at unacceptably high levels, the potential for life-threatening complications increase. In addition to heat attacks and strokes, individuals suffering from high blood pressure can also have damaged kidneys or eyes. In conclusion, do not take any chances. A check only takes a minute, and that particular minute can save a life. Do not let the disease dictate the health of the entire body. If the doctor prescribes medicine, to prevent devastating consequences, take it. With regular checks, a little problem can be curtailed, before it becomes a matter of life and death.
