Will decidual bleeding affect the result of a home pregnancy test?

Think I have had this for a few weeks, strong pregnancy symptoms but bleeding as if having a period.

Will decidual bleeding affect the result of hpt and if so when would I expect to get an accurate result?

thanks

Yes, bleeding can affect your results. Because your hormones are out of whack ( which is the reason decidual bleedng occurs in the first place) the hcg hormone may or may not register in your urine. I have yet to get a postive hpt and I am 20 weeks. I would go to the doctor and demand either a blood test or sonogram (they may try to tell u no because of the negative urine - they don’t like to think outside of the book so they think negative means negative - but like I said DEMAND it) lol Thats what I did. =) Good luck and I hope everything works out the way you want it to.

Has anyone had bleeding in pregnancy and everything being ok?

I am in early stages of pregnancy and have been bleeding for a few days now. I just got my bloods done yesterday and have to get them repeated early next week. I am by no means kidding myself as i know bleeding is not a good sign in pregnancy and i have already had two previous miscarriages, but in the meantime i would like to know if anyone out there has experienced this and went on to have a successful pregnancy?

Thanks in advance

Hi there and sorry to hear about the bleeding.. I understand how freaky that is!! I began to bleed at 10 wks with my daughter, quite a big gush, I did a fair bit of research and discovered its not all that uncommon, and many woman go on to have healthy babies even with bleeding during pregnancy. I bleed continously until about 25 weeks and then on and off till the end of the pregnancy where I gave birth to a completely normal and healthy baby girl. She’s now 3 months old and doing great!! Good luck to you and I hope it all works out for you.

Cesarean Section - For Complicated or High Risk Births

OR-Live.com live webcast March 13, 2008 at 7:00 PM CDT from Shawnee Mission Medical Center

Experience the miracle of birth during a live broadcast from Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Leah D. Ridgway, MD, of Women’s Health Associates, PA, will perform a Cesarean Section birth during a live surgery Webcast on Thursday, March 13 at 7 p.m.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, every year more than 1 million women in the United States deliver by Cesarean Section, commonly known as a C-section. During the Webcast, Ridgway will make an incision in the woman’s lower abdomen and the uterus to deliver the baby. The Webcast will highlight the surgical techniques used to open and close the womb, and viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions during the live procedure.

A C-section is performed when the baby is unable to be delivered vaginally. The majority of C-sections are planned for reasons including a large baby or a baby that is in a breech position, or if the mother had a previous delivery by C-section. Reasons for an unplanned C-section include fetal distress, preeclampsia (high blood pressure) and arrested labor.

Insidermedicine in 60 - November 2, 2007

From California - A new glaucoma medication may improve compliance. The FDA has approved Combigan, which combines an alpha agonist and a beta-blocker. The medicine lowers IOP by 7 mmHg on average. It should not be used in those with asthma, COPD or heart block.

From Wisconsin - A new study on over 1200 infants, who were followed for over a decade, shows that those who were breast fed for over 4 months had better improvement in lung volume and function. The beneficial effect, however, was not noted if the mother had asthma. In fact, those born to asthmatic mothers had a 6% reduction in lung function.

From Minneapolis - General Mills is recalling over 4 million pizzas which are sold under the Totino’s and Jeno’s brand names. The recall was issued after health authorities noted that 9 out of 21 cases of E. Coli reported in the U.S. had resulted from ingesting one of these pizzas.

And finally from London - A meta-analysis of 25 studies, which collectively enrolled over 3 million subjects, links pre-eclampsia to heart disease later in life. Women with pre-eclampsia had a 2 fold risk of heart disease, and were 4 times more likely to develop hypertension in later life.

For Insidermedicine in 60, I’m Dr. Susan Sharma.
